“I might start with an idea which transforms into something surprisingly different.”
With an engineering background, I have felt the joy of making, fixing and producing for most of my life. I opted to do pottery at school and as a teenager, I threw pots and hand-built pieces of pottery. I still have my first pot made in 1972.

I find that working with clay my mind is present in what I’m doing and that I shut off from the clutter of my busy life. I like the unknown in pottery - I might start with an idea which transforms into something surprisingly different.
In the later years of my career as a teacher in Further Education, I took a course at Studio 45 in Dartington and picked up clay once again. Since then, I have setup my small studio at home with a wheel and kiln and have been focussing on making thrown stoneware forms with carved features.
