Alison Hannah
Working in watercolour and clay, teacher of pottery.
Alison paints, creates pots, runs workshops and delivers experiences from the riverside setting of The Clay Yard at Steamer Quay. Through her practice as a maker and teacher she has developed an understanding of and respect for the materials and chemistry that make up her work.
Alison paints scenes that capture the essence of the culture and landscape of Devon.
These paintings are then fired on glazed ceramics to add a colourful snapshot in permanent form on the clay. Painting en plein-air helps Alison to truly scrutinise the colours and shapes of the outdoors.
Alison holds great value in experiencing the slow and measured pace of creativity, she hopes that her work will inspire others to take a moment to pause, to ponder and to wonder.
