The ceramic plaque hand-built warm “crank” stoneware. This is painted with slip which is a liquid white clay and bisque fired in the kiln. A second glaze firing produces the glossy protective layer. The letters are laser-cut letter stamps and add a further sense of place to the piece.
It isn’t difficult to find a beautiful landscape to paint and on any walk I will always pack my watercolour paints, brushes and A5 plein-air sketchbook. Each of the watercolours are scanned and printed by ceramic decal specialists to produce them a fine layer of ceramic paper. Transferred to the glazed clay piece, this is fired in the kiln at low temperature to form the finished piece.
