Inspired by the work of studio potters, Bernard Leach and Dame Lucy Rie, David has been drawn to creating stoneware, which combines functionality with beauty in a palette of neutral colours, which reflect the soft hues and tones of the Devon landscape. Working from my studio in Totnes, I enjoy experimenting with form and shape to create unique, hand-crafted tableware and timeless pieces at affordable prices.
David's interest in pottery began at school and was rekindled when he moved to Devon and was given a wheel and kiln by a former potter. She encouraged him to experiment with both earthenware and stoneware.
David has sound words of advice to other potters: "Practise! Practise! Practise!"
